It’s August… is it still super hot where you live or do you feel like summer is slowly fading away? It’s been SO hot here in Texas, and we definitely have a lot of hot days ahead of us too without any cooling off in the near future.  We spend most of our days tying to keep cool by swimming in the pool and eating homemade popsicles.

Since we’ve been home more than usual this year and with my boys getting older, we have found that we really love cooking in the kitchen together. After all, the kitchen is the heart of the home, and that’s where so many memories are made, right?! I know a recipe is a keeper when I usually have all the ingredients and its easy for me and the kids to make together. Its even better when my kids can actually make the whole recipe without much help from me.

My oldest turned 9 this summer, and recently, he has been really interested in cooking and baking.  He LOVES to make breakfast, and his new favorite is making waffles or toast and scrambled eggs for the entire family.  He is so cute wearing an apron, and beaming with excitement as he is so proud of his new cooking skills.

My younger son who is 6, is always eager to help in the kitchen, he especially loves to help pour ingredients and stir. However, if there are too many steps in a recipe, he can lose interest quickly. So having a recipe that is quick with less steps is always a plus for us.

This summer, we decided it would be fun to make our own popsicles.  Since I don’t have a popsicle tray, we used my cakesicle silicone molds, which worked perfectly.  My kids mixed up all the ingredients and I poured the mixture into the cakesicle mold and placed it in the freezer over night.  The next day we had the best chocolate popsicles.

If you are looking for a quick and easy recipe to make with your kids, look no further! This chocolate popsicle recipe takes only 2 minutes to make and the popsicles are so delicious and refreshing!

How to make Chocolate Popsicles:

Pour milk into a bowl.  Add chocolate pudding and whisk for 2 minutes.

Pour the mixture into the silicone cakesicle mold or popsicle tray.  Add popsicle sticks.  Freeze chocolate popsicles for 12 hours or over night.

When ready to eat, the popsicles should easily come out of the silicone mold, if not, run some warm water over the back of the silicone mold (not touching the popsicles).  Enjoy!
