I’m really excited to show you how I make these fun sprinkle oreo cookies, and today I’m sharing them topped on the cutest cupcakes!
These cupcakes were made using some amazing goodies from Sweets and Treats.
Every time I looked at these cow print cupcake liners and paper straws, I couldn’t get the idea of “milk and cookies” out of my head. I tried really hard to go with another cow theme, but it was like my mind just wouldn’t let me.
I knew when going with a milk and cookies theme, I had the milk part covered with the cow print, and because I love Oreo cookies so much, I knew they would match perfectly with this theme, and those cute cow print liners.
I love to make sprinkle oreos as a topper on my cakes and cupcakes. Doing this provides a great pop of color to tie in the party theme while allowing the cakes and cupcakes to have an edible topper as well. The cookies stand out because they are taller and look great with some piped buttercream swirls.
These cookies are super easy to make and really take your cupcakes to the next level. Keep reading to see how I used these super cute black and white sprinkles to complete the Milk and Cookies Theme.
What you need to make Sprinkle Oreo Cookies:
- Oreos
- Sprinkles in a shallow bowl
- Piping bag
- Frosting (my recipe)
How to make sprinkle Oreo Cookies:
Step 1: Prep your area with the amount of cookies you will be using. Add your frosting to a piping bag, and cut a tiny tip off the bag. Be sure not to cut a big tip, this will give you too much frosting on your cookie, and in return make your frosting and sprinkles messy looking.
Step 2: Hold the cookie between your fingers, and pipe a small amount of frosting around the center of the cookie. Make sure that the frosting is just enough to fill in that center area, with a little bit of frosting coming out the sides.
Step 3: Taking your frosted cookie, dip the sides of the cookie in your sprinkle bowl. Rotate the cookie around, so all of the edges are covered. Lay your cookie to the side to allow the buttercream to crust over a bit which will allow the sprinkles to stay put.
Repeat the steps with each cookie. If you want to attach the cookies to a cake, you can use some extra buttercream to use as “glue” to hold the cookie in place.
These cookies work great as a party snack, cake or cupcake topper, or in ice cream.
